Each year, the Vision Implementation Committee (VIC) presents Hillsboro 2020 Vision Awards to honor an Outstanding Individual and Outstanding Organization for exceptional service to the community in promoting achievement of the Hillsboro 2020 Vision and Action Plan.

Recipients

2014 OUTSTANDING INDIVIDUAL: Luis Nava

The Vision Implementation Committee is pleased to recognize Luis Nava as the Hillsboro 2020 Outstanding Individual for 2014. During the past year, Luis has shared the vision with hundreds of Hillsboro residents. He’s attended several outreach events including the Latino Cultural Festival, the Hillsboro 2020 Vision Town Hall and Celebrate Hillsboro. His leadership has resulted in hundreds of new ideas for the Hillsboro 2035 community plan and he’s helped to create a new following of community supporters by sharing information about the vision plan and the importance and value of the Latino community’s input in shaping Hillsboro’s future. Luis’s enthusiasm and love of the community is immeasurable and evident to all to have the pleasure to interact with him.

2014 OUTSTANDING ORGANIZATION: Clean Water Services

Clean Water Services has been selected as the Hillsboro 2020 Outstanding Organization for 2014. Clean Water Services (CWS) has served as a Hillsboro 2020 implementation partner since the Vision was first adopted. As a lead partner, CWS has been instrumental in the implementation of five major actions including coordinating stream restoration programs, expanding the use of native species throughout Hillsboro, promoting pest and weed control best practices and providing extensive community education to help reduce surface water pollution. In addition, CWS serves as an active support partner for another half dozen actions. As part of the ten year Vision update completed in 2010, the community called for a new series of initiatives in the area of "sustainability." This included the formation of a public-private Hillsboro Sustainability Task Force. Clean Water Services has been an instrumental part of the Task Force launch and subsequent plan development.
