The City of Hillsboro demonstrates its commitment to sustainable design
and building practices with features from recent and current construction projects:

Resource Conservation:

l Generous use of natural Light
l Highly efficient lighting and WATER CONSERVING 
   plumbing fixtures
l Native landscape requires less Water
l Locally-sourced materials reduce fuel consumption
l Renewable wind energy
 

 



Sustainable Materials:

l Most furniture recyclable and made with recycled
   materials
l Building and finish products with low levels of volatile
   organic compounds (VOC)
l Wood products from sustainably-managed forests
l Materials made with rapidly renewable resources
   such as corn, wheat, and Flax seed

 
 
Environmental Stewardship:

l Recycling and diverting most construction and demolition waste from landfills
l Use of eco-friendly cleaning products
l Low voc products improve indoor air quality for public and employees.  Low voc products also
   reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
l Extensive recycling programs throughout city offices
l State OF THE ART HVAC SYSTEM with dynamic air filters PROVIDE SUPERIOR INDOOR AIR
